Traffic shirt manufacturers

For B2B buyers, compliance is the highest priority. In the United States, products must meet ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 standards, which categorize garments into Class 1, 2, or 3 based on the amount of background and retroreflective material. In the European Union, the relevant standard is EN ISO 20471:2013. You must ensure the supplier provides CE or UL certification and that the reflective tape maintains its luminosity after at least 25 to 50 wash cycles.

The background fabric is typically 100% polyester warp-knit (tricot) or mesh. For high-heat environments, prioritize breathable bird's-eye mesh with a weight of 120-150 GSM. The reflective material should be Class 2 glass bead technology or heat-transfer film. Check for reinforced stitching at high-stress points like the shoulders and pockets, and ensure the fabric has UV protection (UPF 30+) if used for outdoor roadwork.

Professional buyers should look for multi-functional pockets (e.g., radio tabs, ID badge holders, and reinforced pen pockets). For specific industries, Flame Resistant (FR) properties meeting ASTM F1506 or NFPA 70E may be required. Additionally, consider breakaway zippers or Velcro seams for workers operating near moving machinery to prevent entanglement accidents.

The two primary colors are Fluorescent Yellow-Green and Fluorescent Orange-Red. You should request a spectrophotometer test report from the supplier to ensure the chromaticity coordinates fall within the legal safety limits. Poor dye quality can lead to rapid fading under sunlight, which compromises worker safety and legal compliance.

Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Specifically, instruct them to perform a retroreflective coefficient test using a reflectometer. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone comprehensive on-site verification of their production facilities and quality management systems.

Focus on tiered pricing based on GSM weight and reflective tape brand (e.g., 3M vs. local brands). Negotiate a sample fee rebate where the cost of the prototype is deducted from the first bulk order. For long-term partnerships, aim for a 10-15% discount on orders exceeding 5,000 units, and clarify that packaging must include individual polybags with EAN/UPC barcodes for retail readiness.

Traffic shirts are lightweight but high-volume (bulky). Use vacuum packaging to reduce shipping volume and save up to 20-30% on freight costs. Ensure the HS Code (typically 6110.30 or 6211.33) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. For US-bound goods, be aware of Section 301 tariffs and ensure the Country of Origin (COO) is clearly labeled on every garment to comply with import regulations.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released to the supplier once you confirm receipt and quality. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; always use corporate accounts verified by the platform. Define a clear Quality Claim Clause in your contract that specifies a 7-14 day window for reporting defects after the goods arrive at your warehouse.
