Ice gel pack manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize non-toxic, food-grade SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer) or CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) as the cooling agent. The outer film must be made of heavy-duty PE (Polyethylene) or Nylon composite materials to prevent punctures and leaks. For reusable packs, ensure a thickness of at least 0.1mm to 0.2mm to withstand repeated freezing and thawing cycles.

Since these products often come into contact with food or pharmaceuticals, they must meet FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) or EU Food Grade (EC 1935/2004) standards. Additionally, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) reports are essential for shipping, and REACH or RoHS certifications are required for the European market to ensure the absence of hazardous substances.

Performance is determined by the gel density and phase-change temperature. Standard packs stay frozen at 0°C, but for specialized cold chains, you may need PCM (Phase Change Material) packs that maintain specific ranges like -16°C, -21°C, or +2°C to +8°C. Request thermal performance test reports from the supplier to verify how many hours the pack stays within the target temperature range under ambient conditions.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com usually offer OEM services, including custom printing (Gravure printing) for branding, variable sizes (from 20g to 2kg), and custom shapes for medical therapy (e.g., eye masks or joint wraps). You can also choose between dry ice packs (dehydrated) to save on shipping costs or pre-filled liquid gel packs for immediate use.

The main risk is leakage during transit, which can damage other cargo. Ensure the supplier uses reinforced 5-layer corrugated export cartons and inner waterproof liners. For pre-filled packs, the weight-to-value ratio is high, so consider sea freight to optimize costs. If shipping by air, you must provide a Non-Dangerous Goods Chemical Identification Report to satisfy airline safety protocols.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Check their export experience—suppliers with a history of shipping to the US or EU are more likely to understand strict labeling and leakage prevention requirements. Always request a sample to test the seal strength by applying pressure before placing a bulk order.

Price is heavily influenced by the weight of the gel and the material of the outer bag. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, orders exceeding 10,000 units typically see a 15-20% price reduction. Another strategy is to source 'Dry' gel packs (powder form in bags), which significantly reduces international shipping costs by up to 80%, as you only pay for the weight of the powder and plastic, not the water.

Utilize Secured Trading services offered through Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. Define a Quality Acceptance Agreement (QAA) that specifies a 0% tolerance for leaks and clear criteria for printing quality. For large-scale pharmaceutical applications, insist on a batch-tracking system where each carton is labeled with a production date and batch number.
