Fresh jujube manufacturers

When evaluating fresh jujubes, prioritize firmness, skin integrity, and sugar content (Brix level). High-quality jujubes should have a crisp texture and a smooth, glossy skin without soft spots or bruising. For premium markets, look for a Brix level of 25% or higher. Ensure the fruit is harvested at the correct maturity stage (usually when the skin turns 25-50% reddish-brown) to balance sweetness and shelf life.

Suppliers must adhere to GlobalG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practices) to ensure traceability and safety. For entry into major markets, products must meet Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for pesticides as defined by the destination country (e.g., EPA for the US or EFSA for the EU). Additionally, Phytosanitary Certificates issued by the exporting country's national plant protection organization are mandatory to prove the shipment is free from regulated pests.

Fresh jujubes are highly perishable and require a cold chain logistics solution. They should be stored and transported at temperatures between 0°C to 2°C (32°F - 35.6°F) with a relative humidity of 90-95%. Packaging should include perforated polyethylene bags or clamshell containers within sturdy corrugated master cartons to prevent moisture buildup and physical crushing. Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) can further extend shelf life by up to 4-6 weeks.

The Li (Sweet Round) and Lang (Pear-shaped) varieties are the most popular for fresh consumption due to their size and high sugar content. The Winter Jujube (Dongzao) is highly prized in B2B trade for its extra-crisp texture and premium pricing. For industrial use (processing into snacks or tea), smaller varieties with higher acidity may be more economically feasible.

Always use reefer containers (refrigerated containers) with active temperature and humidity data loggers. It is critical to stipulate Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) by third parties like SGS or Intertek to verify the fruit's condition at the loading port. Ensure your contract includes a clear liability clause for cold chain breaks.

Focus on seasonal pricing and volume commitments. Since jujubes are seasonal, securing a Forward Contract can lock in prices before the harvest peak. Request historical export data and certifications specifically for your target market to ensure the supplier understands your local customs clearance requirements.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. For large bulk orders, consider using a Letter of Credit (L/C) which releases funds only upon the presentation of valid shipping and phytosanitary documents. Avoid 100% upfront T/T payments for initial orders.

Check for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between your country and the supplier's origin, which may reduce or eliminate import duties. Be aware of Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON); some countries require specific cold treatments or fumigation protocols (like Methyl Bromide) before the fruit can be cleared by customs.
